Changes to the NCC
Changes to the National Construction Code
NCC 2019-2022
Whilst we have been designing in accordance with NCC 2022 for some time now, from October 1st 2024, NCC 2022 and its recognised Livable Housing Design Standard, will be requirements in South Australia.
The noteworthy changes from 1 October 2024 are as follows:
- Newly constructed homes in South Australia will be required to be seven-star energy efficient, up from six-star. This may slightly increase the cost of a new home however, ongoing energy costs will be lower which will offset any initial increase in build cost over time.
- The Livable Housing Design Standard 2022 is recognised in the NCC and focuses on considerations that will allow people with mobility issues, current or developing, to transition through life stages in their own homes.
We will continually strive to find innovative design solutions to the new requirements to achieve compliance in the most cost-effective manner for our clients.
We thoroughly welcome the changes as they seek to provide people with better living standards and greener, more energy efficient homes.
